Artificial grass in shaded gardens and around trees
If your lawn is thin, mossy and bare under the canopy, no amount of seed will fix it.
Why shade defeats natural grass
Grass needs light. Under a mature canopy, or on the north side of a boundary fence, it never gets enough to thicken up, and the tree also takes most of the available moisture. Moss fills the gap because moss tolerates exactly those conditions.
Working around roots
- We hand-dig within root zones rather than machine excavating
- Excavation depth is reduced locally to avoid severing significant roots
- A permeable build-up keeps water and air reaching the root plate
- Where a tree is protected, we check for a TPO before any work starts
Keeping a shaded lawn clean
Shaded artificial lawns collect more organic debris and are more prone to a green film. Regular brushing, prompt leaf clearance and an occasional wash keeps them looking right.
