Colourful landscaped Hertfordshire garden with a freshly installed artificial lawn, porcelain patio and flower borders

Artificial grass and garden transformations in Hertfordshire

Compacted sub-base and edging prepared before artificial grass is installed

Our difference

The part of the job you never see matters most

Nearly every artificial lawn problem we are asked to put right traces back to the base beneath it. We prepare the ground properly and price that work openly.

  • Excavation to the depth the garden actually needs
  • Granular sub-base laid and compacted in layers
  • Permanent edging fixed around the full perimeter
  • Falls and drainage set before anything is laid
  • Weed membrane beneath the finished surface
  • Seams joined, edges fixed and the pile power brushed

Why choose us

Why Hertfordshire homeowners choose us

Full ground preparation

Excavation, compacted sub-base, edging and drainage — the work that decides whether a lawn still looks right in five years.

35+ years combined experience

An established team that installs every project itself rather than passing the work to subcontractors.

Clear written quotations

Every element priced and set out in writing after a free site survey, so you know exactly what is included.

One team, one project

Artificial grass, patios, fencing and decking handled together, so levels and edges are planned as a whole.

Quality materials

Specifications chosen for the garden and how it is used, not the cheapest roll on the shelf.

Tidy sites, waste removed

Turf, spoil and old paving taken away, access routes cleaned down and the garden left ready to use.

Before and after

Tired lawns turned into gardens that get used

A worn, waterlogged lawn and a cracked patio are usually a groundwork problem. Here is the kind of change a properly prepared transformation makes.

Worn, patchy natural lawn in a Hertfordshire garden before transformation
Before — worn turf, poor drainage and bare patches
The same garden after artificial grass installation with neat edging
After — level artificial lawn on a compacted base

Reviews

What our customers say

The groundwork was far more thorough than the other quotes we had. Two winters on and the lawn is still perfectly flat.

Sarah H.Radlett

New patio, fencing and artificial grass done as one job. Tidy, on time and the garden is unrecognisable.

David M.Potters Bar

We have two dogs and the garden was a mud bath. The drainage work they did has made all the difference.

Frequently asked questions

How much does artificial grass installation cost?
Cost depends on the size and shape of the garden, what has to be removed, the depth of excavation, access and the grade of grass you choose. Every garden is priced after a free site survey and set out in a written quotation, so you can see what is included rather than comparing rough rates.
Do you provide free site surveys?
Yes. An experienced estimator visits the property, measures the area, checks levels, access and drainage, discusses your ideas and then prepares a written quotation. There is no charge and no obligation.
How long does artificial grass installation take?
A lawn of average size is usually completed in two to three days. Larger gardens, difficult access, drainage work or projects that also include a patio or fencing take longer, and we confirm the expected duration in the quotation.
Is artificial grass suitable for dogs?
Yes. We use free-draining, pet-friendly specifications with permeable backings and an open sub-base so that liquid passes straight through. Solid waste is removed as normal and the lawn can be rinsed down.
Does artificial grass drain properly?
Artificial grass is permeable and the base beneath it is built from free-draining material laid to a fall. Where a garden already holds water we allow for extra drainage — a deeper open sub-base, a channel drain or a soakaway — and price it in the quotation.
What preparation is required beneath artificial grass?
The existing surface is removed, the ground is excavated to depth, edging is installed, then a granular sub-base is laid and compacted in layers, followed by a laying course and a weed membrane. Skipping any of these stages is the main cause of sinking, rippling and lifting edges later on.
Can you remove my existing lawn?
Yes. Turf, roots, soil and garden waste are lifted out and removed from site as part of the project.
Can artificial grass be installed on concrete?
It can, provided the concrete drains or can be adapted to drain. We normally install a shockpad or laying course over the slab to even out imperfections and improve the feel underfoot.
How long does artificial grass last?
Manufacturers generally quote around 10 to 15 years for a good quality grass in a domestic garden. A properly compacted base has a strong influence on that, because it stops the movement that shortens a lawn's life.
Can you install patios and fencing at the same time?
Yes. Artificial grass, patios, fencing and decking are all installed by our own team, so a combined project runs as one job with levels and edges planned together.
Do you dispose of the old garden materials?
Yes. Turf, spoil, broken paving, old fence panels and general garden waste are removed and disposed of as part of the quoted work unless you ask us to leave anything on site.
Which areas of Hertfordshire do you cover?
We work throughout Hertfordshire, with regular projects in Borehamwood, Radlett, Potters Bar, St Albans and Hatfield, and cover surrounding areas including Elstree, Shenley, Bushey, Watford, Barnet, Welwyn Garden City, Brookmans Park, Cuffley, London Colney, Harpenden, Hertford, Stevenage, Hemel Hempstead and Cheshunt.
Do I need to be home during the installation?
Not usually, as long as we have agreed access to the garden and to an outside tap. We will tell you in advance about any day where a decision or access is needed.
Do you provide written quotations?
Yes. Every project is quoted in writing after the site survey, setting out the work included, the materials specified and the expected duration.
Can you transform sloping or uneven gardens?
Yes. Sloping gardens are usually a levels problem rather than a lost cause. Retaining walls, sleeper beds, steps and terracing can create two or three usable levels, which is far more practical than trying to force the garden flat.
